WWE Ignores Autism Awareness Month: A Missed Opportunity

WWE

If you’re like WWE and didn’t know this, April is Autism Awareness Month. This is a significant time dedicated to promoting understanding and acceptance of individuals on the autism spectrum. In a week that showcased an extensive amount of programming, WWE had an unprecedented opportunity to bring awareness to this important cause. They just had a ridiculous amount of television time since Friday, with multiple live events and numerous broadcasts spanning several days.

They held SmackDown on Friday, followed by NXT Stand and Deliver on Saturday, and then transitioned directly into Wrestlemania night one. This was then followed by the highly anticipated night two, and later, Monday Night Raw. With an overflowing schedule featuring a whole lot of pre-and post-shows nestled in between, WWE had more than 25 hours of television time to engage with their audience.

However, despite the abundance of opportunities to highlight Autism Awareness Month, they didn’t mention it once. Just a brief acknowledgement could have made a meaningful impact. It literally takes seconds to say, “It is Autism Awareness Month,” yet WWE chose to overlook an important moment of awareness.

This oversight sends a discouraging message to a community that strives for inclusion and representation. Instead of using their wide-reaching platform to support and uplift individuals on the spectrum, WWE failed to recognize the importance of the month. In doing so, they inadvertently conveyed to an entire community that they don’t matter, which is a sentiment that can resonate deeply for those advocating for awareness and acceptance.

It's a crucial reminder that even small gestures can make a significant difference in fostering understanding.

AEW (All Elite Wrestling) on the other hand, seems to never miss occasions like this. So congrats to them and the total opposite goes to WWE.

The biggest wrestling promotion in the world, by far. Actually more of a gigantic sports entertainment conglomerate, owned by TKO.

Not one word, not one tweet about Autism Awareness or Autism Acceptance. Maybe they needed 50 hours of TV time before they got to that?

Inexcusable and they should be ashamed of themselves. But knowing WWE, they don’t feel shame.

One of their legends just got caught hanging out with a convicted child sex abuser, and nobody cared. That’s the real WWE and TKO.
