AEW Dynamite Had a Literal Car Crash... and Maybe We Should All Just Enjoy It

Look, if you're still mad about Darby Allin flipping a car with Gabe Kidd in the trunk on national television, I need you to take a breath. Pro wrestling has been doing stupid, over-the-top stuff since the days of barbed wire and exploding rings.

This? This is just AEW turning the dial to 11 because... why not? The segment was bonkers: chloroform kidnapping, trunk stuffing, intentional car wreck, then wheeling the "victim" to the ring like it's Amazon delivery day.

The crowd went from hyped to stunned silence to slowly coming back around as the Coffin Match got gorier. JDfromNY called it one of the worst things he's seen, and yeah, the dead air after the crash didn't help.

The feud's buildup was shaky, Kidd keeps losing big spots, and "attempted murder on live TV" isn't exactly family-friendly storytelling. But “attempted murder” is AEW’s signature move, so the promotion clearly isn’t for kids.

Smart long term strategy? Nope! Was it fun for me? Yup!

Like come on. They crashed a car on Dynamite! Darby drove it himself. They both survived and kept brawling.

That's the kind of wacky, larger-than-life nonsense that makes wrestling feel alive in 2026 when everything else is so polished and predictable.

Is it "good booking"? Probably not if you're measuring by ratings spikes or long-term character arcs.

Does it make you go "what the hell did I just watch?" Absolutely. And in a world where most wrestling feels safe, I'll take the ridiculous over the boring any day.

Chill, people. It's pro wrestling. Sometimes you flip a car, get out, and fight in a coffin. Embrace the dumb.

What about you—did the car crash pop you, or was it too far?
