AEW Super Dynamite: This Week’s Stacked 3-Hour Show is Must-Watch TV

AEW Dynamite preview may 20 2026

First off, “Dynamite/Collision” is a dumb, confusing name. Call it Super or SuperDynamite and be done with it. Whatever they’re calling this three-hour blockbuster this week (May 20, 2026), it’s LOADED from top to bottom.

AEW is swinging for the fences and I’m excited!

The Big Returns & Title Matches

Swerve Strickland is back!

That’s the headline, baby. House of Black drama? Swerve’s House business? Whatever the story is, the man is must-see television every single time he steps in the ring.

His return alone is worth tuning in.

AEW World Tag Team Championship: FTR (c) vs. Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong

FTR are the best tag team on the planet right now and they’re probably walking out still champions, but this match is going to slap. OC’s chaos + Roddy’s technical game against the FTR machine?

Fun guaranteed. Expect stiff forearms, pocket flips, and some “BANG BANG” shenanigans.

AEW World Championship: Darby Allin [c] vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey

This one hurts my soul a little. Speedball is over and deserves big wins, but we all know where this is headed — Darby’s saving the big one for MJF at Double or Nothing.

It’s the 4th or 5th defense where the outcome feels CLEARLY pre-determined, and I hate that.

Still… Darby vs Speedball is going to be an absolute banger. High-risk, flippy, hard-hitting insanity. I’ll enjoy the match while quietly resenting the booking.

The Bangers

Anything Goes, No DQ: Mark Briscoe vs. Tommaso Ciampa

This might be Match of the Night. Two of the toughest, most violent dudes on the roster in a no-rules environment?

Chairs, tables, maybe a kendo stick or two. Briscoe’s redneck kung-fu vs Ciampa’s psycho intensity. I’m expecting blood, bumps, and a standing ovation.

Continental Championship Eliminator: Jon Moxley [c] vs. Kyle O’Reilly

Mox is in that “I’ll fight anyone, anywhere” mode and Kyle O’Reilly is the perfect dance partner. Technical masterclass with Mox’s grit.

This could easily steal the show if they get 15-18 minutes.

8-Woman Tag: Athena, Thekla, Skye Blue & Julia Hart vs. Thunder Rosa, Jamie Hayter, Hikaru Shida & Mina Shirakawa

Chaos. Absolute chaos. You’ve got the undefeated Athena leading a heel squad stacked with rising stars and psycho energy (Skye & Julia are clicking hard lately), against a babyface team loaded with veterans and strikers.

Thunder Rosa’s fire, Hayter’s power, Shida’s striking, and Mina’s flair? This thing is going to be fast-paced, full of big spots, and probably end in a wild multi-person brawl. Women’s division eating good this week.

Five Minute Women’s World Tag Team Championship Eliminator: Divine Dominion vs. TBD

I’m calling my shot: TayJay (Tay Melo & JayJay) come through and beat them. Short, explosive, and sets up something bigger for the tag division.

Women’s tag scene needs momentum — hope this delivers.

Ricochet, Andrade El Idolo & Mark Davis vs. Chris Jericho & The Young Bucks

Days before their Double or Nothing showdown, we get a massive trios go-home war. High-flying chaos meets EVP drama meets the Demo God. This is going to be athletic insanity with plenty of Elite heat and “I’m better than you” vibes.

Perfect way to build even more fire heading into the PPV.

Katsuyori Shibata vs. Will Ospreay

Another certified banger alert. The Murder God versus the Aerial Assassin. Shibata’s stiff-as-hell kicks and forearm chops meeting Ospreay’s insane athleticism?

This is going to be violent, crisp, and probably end with both guys selling like they just got hit by trucks. Expect red palms, near-falls that make you scream, and a match that reminds everyone why these two are generational talents. Pure fire.

Final Thoughts

This card is stupidly stacked for a single night. Swerve’s return + two potential Match of the Year candidates + a world title match that’ll at least look incredible.

Yeah, the Darby booking is frustrating (stop burying potential stars on the way to the obvious PPV match), but the in-ring product should be fire. If you’re even a casual AEW fan, block out three hours this week.

Super Dynamite (I’m making it stick) is going to deliver.

What’s your most anticipated match? Drop it in the comments. I’m saying Briscoe/Ciampa goes off.
