Why AEW Landing on Tubi is a Sneaky Masterstroke

AEW (All Elite Wrestling) joins the free Tubi app, great news for fans

I usually don’t pretend to be a TV executive, and don't care to get bogged down in corporate spreadsheets, most everyone else in the community has that covered anyway.

But when AEW officially launched its 24/7 "WatchAEW" FAST channel on Tubi—right after dumping over 100 episodes of classic Dynamite onto the app's FREE on-demand section—I had to stop and look at the bigger picture.

As someone who uses Tubi alongside every other streaming app on my TV, I already knew it was a top-tier platform for just throwing something on and letting it run.

But when you look at the actual scale of what Tubi is pulling off right now, this move transforms from "a nice little freebie for fans" into an absolute home run for AEW.

What About the Numbers?

  • 100+ Million: Tubi has surged past 100 million monthly active users globally. That is a massive, built-in audience sitting on their couches looking for something to watch.

  • 1 Billion Hours: Tubi users stream over one billion hours of content every single month.

  • The Cord-Cutter Crown: Over half of Tubi’s audience consists of Gen Z and Millennials, and more than 65% of their viewers are cord-cutters or "cord-nevers."

That last stat is the absolute kicker.

Wrestling promotions are constantly pulling their hair out trying to figure out how to capture younger viewers who don't pay for traditional cable.

By putting the first three seasons of Dynamite on a platform that is 100% free and dominated by the exact demographic you want to attract, AEW is fishing in the perfect pond.

You don't need an MBA to see how simple and smart this is.

For the die-hard fans, it’s a zero-cost, hassle-free way to binge the legendary early years of the promotion. For the millions of casual streamers who use Tubi as their main hub, it's a frictionless gateway into the product.

It costs the fans nothing, it puts AEW in front of 100 million active users, and it exposes the product to a whole new generation of potential fans. Sometimes the best business moves are the ones that just make simple sense.
