Davis and Doyle: From Throw-Together to AEW Title Contenders
After Jake Doyle signed with AEW, I wrote an article asking if All Elite Wrestling could actually make…Something out of him, unlike his previous run in TNA. I even called him “TNA’s Dropped Monster’s Ball,” a phrase that doesn’t make much literal sense but sure sounded good in my head at the time!
When he first linked up with (Dunkzilla) Mark Davis, it had all the makings of another one-off pairing in AEW’s stacked tag division—two big men thrown together for a quick match, maybe a win or two, then quietly fading into the background.
But the opposite happened!
In an incredibly short span of time, this duo has exploded onto the scene with raw power, undeniable chemistry, and a no-nonsense attitude that’s impossible to ignore. Their hard-hitting style meshes perfectly, and visually?
They just look like they belong together—towering frames, intense stares, and that classic big-man swagger that screams “trouble” for anyone in their path.
On Wednesday’s Dynamite, they proved it beyond doubt: Maximum Carnage delivered, earning a well-deserved shot at FTR’s AEW World Tag Team Championships. And with their brand-new theme “RAWHIDE” (crafted by the legendary Mikey Rukus) blasting through the arena, the energy was electric.
This isn’t just a flash in the pan.
These guys are clicking fast, delivering matches that pop, and building real momentum. In a division full of high-flyers and technical wizards, there’s something refreshing about two absolute units who hit hard and mean it.
The tag scene in AEW is on fire right now, and Davis & Doyle are adding serious heat. If they bring that same intensity to the title match, we’re in for something special.
