Alexandra Williams is WWE Raw's New Lead Writer – First Woman in the Role! Fresh Era Ahead

The big news dropping from WWE creative circles is : Alexandra Williams has been promoted to VP and Lead Writer for Monday Night Raw! This shakeup was revealed via her LinkedIn announcement, and it takes effect immediately as WWE builds toward WrestleMania 42.

Alexandra (who's been part of the team since around 2020 and was previously co-lead with Jonathan Baeckstrom) now oversees all creative development for Raw — pitching storylines, character arcs, premium live event builds (hello, WrestleMania!), episode rundowns, and long-term narrative strategy.

*Update: “The Road Dogg” Jesse James is no longer with WWE.

She brings a data-driven edge, analyzing segment performance, audience trends, and viewership to keep things fresh and engaging. Her work has already helped fuel record-breaking live event attendance and revenue growth under the TKO era.

This is massive because she's a woman stepping into one of the top creative roles on WWE's flagship show.

While women have broken barriers in commentary (like Renee Young as the first full-episode commentator on Raw back in 2018) and in-ring history, the lead writer/head writer positions for major shows like Raw have historically been male-dominated.

From what I can see in reports and WWE creative breakdowns, Alexandra appears to be the first female to hold the lead/primary writer spot for Raw in its long history — a real milestone for diversity in backstage creative power!

This promotion comes amid some creative restructuring (with Ryan Ward overseeing pitches across brands, and shifts on SmackDown), and fans are buzzing about what fresh ideas she'll bring to the red brand.

BOOM — creative refresh incoming, and it's led by a trailblazing woman!

Who's hyped for the new era on Raw?
