NXT’s Borne/Heights ‘Apology’ Segment Was Peak Pro Wrestling
At first glance this was the most obvious segment of the year. It’s pro wrestling. NXT books an “apology” segment after a brutal betrayal.
You already know how it ends.
And yet…
Tavion Heights and Myles Borne were so good that they made the whole thing feel legitimate!
The conflicted body language, the awkward pauses, the way Heights was clearly still hurt but trying to hear him out, Borne looking genuinely torn while delivering the apology — it was excellent work from both guys.
For a few minutes you could almost believe this was heading toward a real reconciliation. Then they shook hands / hugged… and Borne immediately kicked his ass.
Chair work, the full vicious attack, the whole nine yards.
Exactly the ending everyone expected. But because the acting in the lead-up was that strong, the double-cross still hit. That’s the difference between a paint-by-numbers heel turn and one that actually lands.
Borne continues to look like a star in the making. Heights sold the betrayal and the aftermath perfectly. Credit to both of them for elevating what could’ve been a throwaway “gotcha” segment into something memorable.
NXT keeps cooking with these two.
