Why I Couldn't Watch Dynamite Last Night (And Why Bryan’s Return is a Beautiful, Cruel Tease)
I don’t miss many episodes of AEW Dynamite, last night I didn’t watch a second. When you turn on wrestling, you're looking for an escape. It’s supposed to be our getaway from the heavy, exhausting realities of the real world.
But tuning into a wrestling tribute show dedicated to a star who just passed away in PAC (Benjamin Satterley)... it's just too painful.
We literally just went through this heartbreak with Andy Williams, and seeing the industry grapple with another immense loss right after another is a lot to process.
Between losing too many beloved figures in this sport and the sheer emotional weight of it all, I just couldn't bring myself to watch. It wasn't about being cynical; it just hurt too much.
Of course, because it’s wrestling, you inevitably catch the big moments online—and what a moment it was.
Bryan Danielson returning to the ring as the Death Riders' mystery partner on a night dedicated to PAC is nothing short of incredible.
Seeing the American Dragon back in action is the kind of electrifying shock to the system that makes you love this business.
At the same time, it's also kind of a cruel tease.
Every single one of us desperately wants Danielson back in the fold full-time, healthy, and doing what he does best every single week.
Seeing him pop up gives you that massive rush of adrenaline, followed immediately by that bittersweet reminder of how much we miss having him around permanently.
It's a rollercoaster of emotions: grief for those we've lost, exhaustion from the mourning the business has had to endure lately, and absolute awe at the magic of the men and women who step back through that curtain.
