Darby’s Reign of Terror Lite: How Many Bodies Does One Coffin Need?
Look… I’m not quitting AEW over this. I survived the real Reign of Terror in 2003. I can handle Darby Allin pinning half the roster in 2026. But damn, they’re really doing it again!
Since winning the AEW World Championship back from MJF on April 15th, Darby has gone full Reign of Terror Lite™ — defending the title every time someone looks at him funny.
We’re not even at Double or Nothing yet (where he’s defending against MJF in a Title vs. Hair match, by the way) and the body count is already ridiculous.
Current Victims of the Darby Coffin Drop Massacre (as of May 18)
Tommaso Ciampa
Brody King
Kevin Knight
Konosuke Takeshita (clean, on a big show)
Sammy Guevara
And now… Speedball Mike Bailey on Wednesday night. Yes, really.
That’s like 7 defenses in a month. My brother in Christ, the match with MJF has been known for weeks.
Why are we still running through the roster like Darby is trying to make the TNT Title look prestigious by comparison?
Current Reign of Terror Death Toll: 7+
It’s giving 2003 Triple H energy — except instead of Evolution and a sledgehammer, we’ve got thumbtacks, a broken body, and whatever’s left of Darby’s spine holding it together with duct tape and spite.
Don’t get me wrong — Darby’s an incredible champion and these matches slap. But at this rate he’s gonna need a new spine and a new roster by All In.
AEW, we see you. You’re really out here speedrunning the “make the champ look unstoppable right before the big PPV match” speedrun any %.
Chill. Let some other guys breathe. I’m still watching. I’m still here.
But if I see Darby pin another beloved babyface before Double or Nothing, I’m filing a complaint with Warner Bros.
