DarkState Defeat Hardys for NXT Tag Titles?!

My friend and co-writer here, R-Double, and I often make our predictions ahead of wrestling shows like tonight’s WWE Halloween Havoc. We usually enjoy a good-natured disagreement over who will come out on top.

Tonight, we were absolutely certain The Hardys (Hardy Boyz, Broken Hardy’s, etc) would secure the victory, but surprisingly, that was not the case. They ended up losing to DarkState, of all teams.

While DarkState are former tag team champions and certainly have a strong presence, it’s hard to imagine they should be considered on the same level as The Hardys at this point in time—or, quite frankly, ever.

I’ll go so far as to say this feels quite disrespectful to The Hardys, especially considering they lost to a team like DarkState in their own “Broken Rules” match.

The fact that all four DarkState members were allowed to wrestle makes it even more confusing—why would that format be considered a Hardy-type match?

It seems completely out of place. The same goes for DarkState defeating established legends; it just doesn’t sit right with me.

I’ve seen DS compared to the totally forgettable, yet somewhat similar, Retribution, and I totally agree with that assessment. The only positive outcome from this situation, in my opinion, was seeing Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater stepping up and expressing a strong desire to claim those titles now!

That development is fantastic storytelling, especially considering how DarkState ruined, their incredible Bound for Glory match finish.
