Dave Meltzer Again Denies AEW Bias - Clear Deflection at This Point?
Wrestling Twitter is speed-running 2019 again! Yesterday (March 8), #RanceFiles top guy Dave Meltzer hopped on X to clap back at a fan (rightfully) accusing him of being on AEW's payroll.
Something I have also done many times, it’s beyond obvious, just look at his f-n timeline. His tweet? Pure defense mode, similar to Sean Sapp after being exposed by THE ENTIRE IWC.
They each picked and chose one thing, the thing that’s very likely real. Sean with drugs and Dave working for Tony Khan.
Do I know for sure Dave works for AEW? No. Same way I can’t prove he works for Chasyn Rance, but I dug in and it’s very likely — same as dAvEW. #RanceFiles
Yesterday @BasedCLC drops the vintage bomb: that ancient clip of Dave's phone blasting "Tony Khan" live on Wrestling Observer Radio mid-show. Voice announce feature reads it out loud, Dave picks up like it's nothing, awkward silence, back to business.
Classic. The clip? Not new. People have been memeing it since at least 2019 — Instagram reels literally caption "I've been saying this since 2019."
But Dave hands them the perfect setup by going full "I'm not biased, losers" literally yesterday.
You know what I do when people lie about me? Nothing, why give it attention? Unless maybe….just maybe…it’s real for Dave with AEW?
Internet in 2026: same drama, faster cycle. Old receipts get recycled in hours now. Dave's still on Tony's speed dial (allegedly), critics still dunking, and we're all just scrolling past while Netflix queues up the next episode.
