Meltzer Goes Full AEW Fanboy as Co-Host Alvarez Plays Voice of Reason - Cornette Show Gold!
This week’s Jim Cornette Experience might be one of the funniest takedowns in recent memory. Dave Meltzer has gone full crazy AEW stan mode, and even his own co-host Brian Alvarez can’t get through to him anymore.
The segment where they’re arguing over the Will Ospreay/Death Riders booking logic is pure gold.
You’ve got Alvarez (who actually likes a lot of the modern style) straight-up calling out the nonsense: Ospreay gets kidnapped, beaten, almost has his career ended... then one “talk” on Collision later he’s training with the guys who tried to murder him.
No real explanation on the main show for the majority of viewers who don’t watch the B-show.
Classic AEW “just trust us, bro” booking.
Dave? He’s out here defending it with every excuse in the book — “they explained it on Collision,” “not including Max,” low numbers but probably more people watched, etc.
It’s like he physically cannot criticize Tony Khan’s booking anymore. Alvarez is trying to talk sense and Dave is just glazing harder than ever.Jim Cornette and Brian Last absolutely torch the whole thing.
Around the 5-minute mark of the clip, Cornette nails it when he breaks down the absurdity: kidnapped, hospitalized, career nearly over... but they had a talk, so now we’re cool and training together? Come on.
The way Jim mocks Dave’s constant defenses had me dying laughing.
This is peak “guy who used to be the most respected voice in wrestling has completely lost the plot because he’s too invested in one promotion.”
Alvarez is out here begging for basic booking logic and Dave won’t even hear it.
Cornette’s right — it’s painful to listen to, but hilarious at the same time.AEW fans can defend their booking all they want, but when even Alvarez is side-eyeing it and Dave is still riding shotgun no matter what... that says everything.
