Meet Nhooph Al-Areebi (Aliyah)

Nhooph Al-Areebi (born November 23, 1994, in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian pro wrestler of Iraqi and Syrian descent. Growing up in a conservative family, she secretly trained at Squared Circle Training starting in 2011 (under coaches like Taylor Wilde and El Fuego), inspired by stars like Beth Phoenix, Mickie James, Edge, and Jeff Hardy. She even attended circus school to boost her flexibility and movement—skills that shine in the ring!

Debuting on the indies in January 2013 (as Jasmin Areebi), she captured early titles in promotions like Pure Wrestling Association, Absolute Intense Wrestling, and New England Championship Wrestling. WWE signed her in March 2015 (confirmed April), making her one of the youngest at the Performance Center.

As Aliyah, she debuted in NXT, spent years honing her craft (including on Breaking Ground), and made history on the main roster:

  • Fastest victory in WWE history (3.17 seconds over Natalya in 2022).

  • Former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion (with Raquel Rodriguez, 2022—first female Arab-Canadian to win WWE gold).

  • Released in September 2023 after limited TV time.

Now back on the independent circuit under her real name (since October 2024), she’s already making waves: Won the Destiny Women’s Championship in Destiny Pro Wrestling (November 2024, defeating Tiffany Nieves—her first post-WWE title!). She’s active in Canadian/U.S. indies, proving her best is yet to come.

Her style is agile and technical—high-flying with circus-inspired flexibility, signatures like arm drags, crossbodies, suplexes, and submissions (early finisher: Arabian Night variation).

Why She’s a Must-Follow

Nhooph brings history-making representation, incredible resilience (overcoming family doubts and a long NXT grind), and that “People’s Princess” charisma.

Her indie resurgence highlights her growth—fans love her inspiring journey, athletic flair, and barrier-breaking legacy. If you dig trailblazers with heart, skill, and comeback energy, Nhooph is a standout!
