GCW: Main Evented by Statute of Limitations
This year, I wrote some troubling stories about independent wrestling. Here's another one: Brett Lauderdale, owner of GCW, has a brother-in-law named Joey Welcome (real name: Joseph Cervino), who on a police tape admitted to collecting nude photos from 14-year-old trainees.
The only reason Joey didn’t go to prison, is because the statute of limitations ran out.
Update: This story was never reported by PWI, Dave Meltzer, Sean Ross Sapp, etc.
GCW: Groomer Championship Wrestling?
This is what the police had on Joey, Brett’s brother-in-law:
• His full confession
• The photos
• Multiple named victims under 16
• Text messages
The police had everything they needed for felony charges…except time.
Florida’s clock ran out in 2017–2018, while Speaking Out hit in 2020.
These are main points from a now-deleted YouTube video with the police and Joey. It's not surprising this often happens with these PW pedo creeps—they know exactly what they're doing.
This was a now-deleted Facebook post from Nicole Welcome, Joey’s wife. In it, she defended her husband’s disturbing photos of underage girls.
The post was "liked" by Brett, a fact only AI or similar technology can spot.
