If you were watching NXT Halloween Havoc, you could physically feel the air leave the arena when that three-count hit. Wren Sinclair put in all the work, played the gimmick loop to absolute perfection, and gave us one of the most entertaining builds of the year.
Dressing up as Lady Shani to sneak into the mix and pulling off that mask reveal? One of the moments of the year!
And coming out in that flawless Scarlet Witch gear? She completely committed to the bit and delivered. The crowd was ready to see her cash in all that effort.
Instead, Kelani Jordan (who is fantastic and should have been called up months ago) gets the win with her leg clearly draped over the rope—a textbook dirty finish that the referee somehow missed. But the real insult to injury happened backstage.
Kelani runs into Robert Stone, who completely glosses over the fact that she had her foot on the ropes and immediately pivots to plugging a mystery main roster star stepping up for a match.
WTF Robert Stone?!
It’s a massive narrative plot hole, and it’s ALL about AEW: they had to sacrifice a hot, organic NXT storyline just to stack a card and chase ratings. (They are going head-to-head this Wednesday, again)
Social media was instantly flooded with the exact frustration you could hear in the building. As one fan aptly put it on the official NXT post: "Wren should get a rematch for Kelani cheating... Kelani cheating to win and that Wanda gear is phenomenal and works perfectly for Wren."
Another kept it simple and spoke for all of us: "That's how you make wren lose?! Cmon man!!!"
Wren gave them gold, the fans bought in, and the booking sacrificed a organic moment just to serve the corporate machine.
