Hikaru Shida Survives the Fittest to Become the NEW TBS Champion!

What a absolute war on AEW Dynamite! San Diego just witnessed history as the first-ever women’s Survival of the Fittest elimination match in AEW ended with Hikaru Shida standing tall as the new, vacant TBS Champion.

Shida has officially carved her name into the history books once again, joining Kris Statlander as the only two women to ever hold both the AEW Women’s World Championship and the TBS Championship.

The Field of Six

The deck was completely stacked. To get the gold, Shida had to outlast an incredibly diverse, world-class field of qualifiers representing the best of AEW and its global partners:

  • Queen Aminata & Harley Cameron brought the absolute fire and chaos, proving they belong at the very top of the singles division.

  • Persephone (the dominant CMLL Women’s World Champion) and STARDOM’s powerhouse Maika brought unparalleled international prestige to the match, turning the Viejas Arena into a global battleground.

The Final Showdown: Shida vs. Statlander

Ultimately, it came down to the two year-one AEW cornerstones. Kris Statlander—the only former TBS Champion in the match—looked poised to become a two-time titleholder. The physical toll of the elimination format was on full display as both women left everything in the ring.

After an absolute slugfest of heavy strikes, near-falls, and pure counter-wrestling, Shida found the ultimate opening, hitting a definitive Katana knee strike to pin Statlander and claim the gold.

The Ace of the Division: With this massive victory, Shida resets the landscape of the AEW women's division. The TBS Championship has a legendary new anchor, and the line of challengers is already forming.
