Former IWGP Champ EVIL Makes Shock NXT Debut — Goes Straight After Tony D’Angelo!

Tonight on WWE NXT, the landscape of the NXT Championship picture just got a whole lot darker. Former NJPW star and one-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion EVIL has officially arrived in WWE — and he wasted zero time making his presence felt.

The House of Torture leader appeared live on the April 29 episode and immediately set his sights on NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo, sending a clear message that the Don of NXT has a new problem on his hands.

EVIL’s surprise appearance comes hot off reports that he recently signed with WWE after his NJPW contract expired earlier this year.

The tease had been building for weeks — most notably when Tony D’Angelo was handed a mysterious box with the Japanese kanji for “WAR” on last week’s show.

This is massive crossover heat for NXT. A decorated NJPW veteran with main-event pedigree walking right into the black-and-gold brand and calling out the champ on night one? That’s how you make an entrance.

Expect this to escalate fast. EVIL in NXT could be the shot in the arm the men’s division needed — and Tony D’Angelo just got put on notice.
