Lyra Valkyria’s New “Deranged” Gimmick is a Trainwreck & Bayley Caused It

Lyra Valkyria on WWE Raw holding a microphone, sporting messy dark blue hair, a drab grey cardigan, and a wide, unsettling smile during her heel turn segment.

If you tuned into Monday Night Raw expecting a standard, athletic build-up to Saturday Night’s Main Event, WWE had a very different, very weird plan for you.

Instead of a classic wrestling promo, we got Lyra Valkyria completely shedding her babyface "bird girl" persona to go full-on unhinged. Fans are already drawing comparisons to everything from a Gothic witch to, well... someone who hasn't slept in about three weeks.

The Smeared Makeup & "Deranged" Energy

It’s hard to overstate how jarring the visual change is. The smeared, heavy blue eye makeup and manic glares feel less like a calculated wrestling villain and more like a character straight out of a low-budget horror movie.

During the segment, Lyra didn't just verbally roast Bayley—calling her a "doormat" and the "worst of the Four Horsewomen—she proceeded to jump her, leaving Bayley laid out in the ring.

The wildest part? Lyra hit Bayley with her own finisher, the Bayley-to-Belly, and then looked down at her victim to whisper a creepy, deadpan, "I'm sorry.”

Is This the Worst Feud in Pro Wrestling right now?

Wrestling fans are fiercely divided on this one. On one hand, you have people who love the absolute camp and chaos of a completely unhinged heel. On the other hand, a huge chunk of the audience is laughing at how forced and awkward the transition feels.

Going from a noble, soaring babyface to a wild-eyed, whispering saboteur in the span of a few weeks has left plenty of viewers scratching their heads.

The Internet's Collective Amnesia: Bayley Had It Coming

While the "worst feud in pro wrestling" tweets are flying, a huge chunk of the audience seems to have developed total narrative amnesia. Everyone is gasping at Lyra’s betrayal, entirely forgetting how much of a passive-aggressive dick Bayley was to her for months.

For half the year, Bayley was constantly talking down to Lyra under the guise of being a "mentor," treating her like an anchor and taking credit for everything while they sputtered out in the tag division.

Lyra didn't just wake up and decide to go crazy; she snapped after being patronized week after week. The "victim" completely sowed the seeds for her own beatdown.

Brilliant Pivot or Total Trainwreck?

Wrestling fans remain fiercely divided. On one hand, you have people who love the absolute camp and chaos of a completely unhinged heel.

On the other hand, plenty of viewers are laughing at how forced and awkward the physical transformation looks. Going from a noble, soaring babyface to a wild-eyed, whispering saboteur is a massive gamble.
