New Tag Champs and AJ Styles Steps Up to Gunther on WWE Raw
The special WWE Raw “Stranger Things” crossover is not even an hour in on Netflix, and a whole lot has already gone down! WWE Champion Gunther, who famously forced John Cena to tap out and effectively retired him, is now flaunting a new shirt and continuing to brag about his dominance.
That arrogance didn’t last long, though, because “The Phenomenal One” AJ Styles stormed the ring to knock “The Ring General” down a few pegs. Gunther ended up complaining to GM Adam Pearce after, he wanted a match with AJ, who popped in and it’s going down next week on Raw!
My Thoughts
Congratulations to the new champs — fair play to them for a clean, definitive victory — but I don’t have much interest in that particular team or the feud surrounding it.
Rhea, Iyo and Asuka are established main-event talents, yet with the women’s division so ridiculously stacked right now, the title change feels almost inevitable rather than especially thrilling.
I feel the total opposite about AJ/Gunther, can’t wait for that one!
