THE TIME IS NOW: Kendal Grey One Step Away from NXT Championship
I’ve been saying it for a while now: Kendal Grey needs to be holding that gold. She is, pound for pound, arguably the absolute best in-ring performer in WWE NXT right now. Her technical skill, her intensity, and her presence are just unmatched.
And after tonight, she is officially one step closer.
Grey just picked up a massive victory to face Kelani Jordan in a number one contenders match, setting up an absolute blockbuster match for next week and then another, whoever faces the champion, Lola Vice.
Lola has been a force to be reckoned with, but she has never shared the ring with someone as ready or as dangerous as Kendal is right now. Kelani Jordan is fantastic, I just believe it’s time for The Grey.
The Tape Study: Stylistic Clash of the Titans
When you look at this matchup on paper, it is a fascinating contrast of elite athletic backgrounds. This isn't just a wrestling match; it’s going to be a high-stakes chess match between two completely different philosophies of offense:
Lola Vice’s Striking & Chaos: Lola is a lethal striker. Her MMA background means her striking is crisp, her spin kicks can end a match in a split second, and her ground-and-pound style thrives on creating high-intensity chaos. If she catches Kendal flustered on the feet, it could be a short night.
Kendal Grey’s Pure Wrestling & Leverage: This is where Kendal's elite amateur wrestling background changes the game. Kendal doesn't need to match Lola's kickboxing. Her path to victory lies in her world-class takedowns, heavy top control, and unbelievable suplex leverage. If Kendal can ground Lola, neutralize the hip movement, and stretch her out with submissions, she completely takes away the champion's power.
The Bottom Line
If Lola keeps it a stand-up fight, Kendal is in danger.
But if Kendal can execute a flawless, amateur-style game plan and turn this into a grueling grappling clinic, we will have a new NXT Women's Champion next week.
