NXT New Year’s Evil Lineup and Thoughts on Moose vs. Page
Next week, January 6th, is WWE NXT’s New Year’s Evil and we now have the updated card. I also have thoughts on former TNA World Champion Moose losing to Ethan Page for his North American Title on tonight’s show.
I’m going to rant a bit, feel free to scroll for the NYE lineup.
So I knew Moose was going to lose that match, due to posting and reading spoilers. But I would’ve bet money he wouldn’t have lost clean like that.
Once again, my pal and co-writer R‑Dubs nailed it, calling me out ahead of time and saying I was wrong. Still, why? Why would TNA send Moose over JUST to lose a title match against Ethan Page?
This felt built for a DQ finish, then a rematch and another big moment at New Year’s Evil or the TNA AMC debut show.
At the very least, that’s how I thought it would play out.
I get that a TNA star appearing on NXT, especially in a high-profile match, is still a pretty big get. But Moose is supposed to be one of the faces of TNA — so this outcome feels weird.
Maybe there’s more to this, but they didn’t leave a real hook or any clear breadcrumbs, so on the surface it doesn’t look that way. It’s Pro Wrestling though — anything can happen, so we shall see what unfolds.
