From Respect to Rage: How OVW And Al Snow Failed Ref During a Terrifying In-Ring Seizure

On March 12, 2026, during OVW Rise in Louisville, what should have been a standard indie wrestling show turned into a nightmare when referee Dallas Edwards took a brutal accidental bump, suffered a severe head injury, and immediately began having a full seizure in the ring—while the match bizarrely continued around him.

In the main event multi-man match, OVW Rush Champion Brendan Balling went for a top-rope flying forearm on heel Tony Evans. Evans pulled Edwards into the path (whether planned or not), causing Balling to crash into the ref instead.

Edwards hit the mat hard, lost consciousness, stiffened, then started convulsing in a clear grand mal seizure. Instead of an immediate stop, wrestlers (especially Tony Evans) rolled Edwards aside, pushed/kicked him out of the way like an obstacle, and kept working spots for roughly two minutes before anyone properly intervened.

The broadcast eventually cut away as medics rushed in. Edwards was hospitalized, and his girlfriend has confirmed he suffered a brain injury. This wasn't "working the ref bump"—it was a real medical emergency ignored for kayfabe.

The Fallout & Criticism

  • Tony Evans' actions—rolling and kicking a seizing man—are being called heartless and dangerous. Many fans and wrestlers say he should be banned from the industry.

  • OVW owner Al Snow, someone respected for decades in wrestling, has drawn massive heat for his response: posting a recycled, tone-deaf joke about Waffle House flies instead of addressing the injury, the negligence, or Edwards' condition.

Fans are burying him online, saying it's shameful and that he's lost all respect by prioritizing memes over a family member's well-being.

Al Snow needs to issue a proper statement, apologize, and explain why protocol failed so badly.

Tony Evans' behavior crossed a line—no spot is worth risking someone's life. Pro Wrestling is supposed to be safe(ish) entertainment, not this.

Get well soon, Dallas Edwards—wishing you a full recovery.
