Penta Becomes New WWE Intercontinental Champion!

As a longtime fan who's followed Penta (Pentagón Jr./Penta El Zero Miedo) from his early days tearing up the independents, dominating in Lucha Underground, making big waves in TNA/Impact, and then becoming a global star in AEW with the Lucha Bros and Death Triangle alongside his brother Rey Fénix... WWE Monday night's RAW was incredible.

On tonight’s March 2, 2026 episode (live from Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse), Penta won his first-ever WWE singles title by defeating Dominik Mysterio to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

The match was intense and full of drama.

Dominik came in as the defending champion (his second reign, which began at Survivor Series: WarGames 2025 when he beat John Cena, lasting about 94 days with no defenses until now).

Earlier, Dom had made it clear he wanted to win this one on his own—no shortcuts or group help. But when things got tough and JD McDonagh tried to pass him the hammer for some classic Dirty Dom interference, Finn Bálor stepped in and stopped it cold.

That moment of hesitation and division inside Judgment Day gave Penta the opening he needed—he hit his signature Mexican Destroyer and pinned Mysterio clean in the center of the ring.

Shoutout to Danhausen's curse from earlier in the show—it definitely seemed to hit hard!

I'm a huge Dominik Mysterio fan. His character work is amazing—he's gone from the kid in Rey's family drama to one of the best heels in wrestling, getting massive heat every week.

Losing the IC title hurts, but he's still the AAA Mega Champion (the "Mega title"), and he's set to defend it soon against El Hijo del Vikingo at AAA's Rey de Reyes on March 14. So he'll bounce back strong.

That Finn interference stop?

It really felt like the start of bigger cracks in Judgment Day. The group has been dominant for years, but with Finn's recent world title chase against CM Punk (at Elimination Chamber), ongoing tensions (especially between Finn and Dom going back over a year), and this very public "not on the same page" moment... things are heating up.

A lot of fans and reports are pointing toward a possible faction implosion or Finn turning babyface heading into WrestleMania season. I'm excited to see where it goes!

For Penta, this is huge.

Since debuting in WWE on the January 13, 2025 episode of RAW (with a big win over Chad Gable), he's brought that signature lucha libre style, intensity, and "Cero Miedo" energy.

Now with gold around his waist, expect some epic dream matches and hard-hitting action that made us love him from the start. What a moment for the new champ—Penta's time is here!

What do you think—Judgment Day splitting up soon, or is this just more drama?
