From the Set of The Last Druid: Russell Crowe & McIntyre Reteam!
Fresh off their time together on the Highlander reboot, Russell Crowe and WWE superstar Drew McIntyre are officially back on set together. The duo recently shared an intense gym photo, signaling the wrap of their latest project, the historical fantasy drama The Last Druid.
The Project: Directed by William Eubank, The Last Druid follows a Roman Emperor who encounters a secluded Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia.
Crowe is set to star as a peaceful Celtic elder forced to take up arms to protect his people, while McIntyre continues to solidify his transition into major feature film roles.
The Dynamic
Having spent months filming Highlander—where they play a father-son dynamic (Crowe as Ramirez and McIntyre as Angus MacLeod)—the two have clearly formed a solid bond. Crowe praised the WWE star on Instagram, calling him "a good lad" and "salt of the earth" as they wrapped their long, sweaty shoot in the Spanish sunshine.
With both Highlander and now The Last Druid in the pipeline, it looks like we have a new favorite fantasy on-screen pairing to keep an eye on.
