Is Shawn Spears EVER Leaving Developmental? That Dude Sucks!
Bro’s been “veteran heel” in NXT longer than some wrestlers have been alive… and it’s not getting any better.
Look, I said it in the group chat and now I’m saying it here: Shawn Spears needs to be put out to pasture. The man is hitting 40+ and still doing the exact same tired authority heel schtick down in developmental.
The “creepy chaperone” bit with Izzie? Done. Dead. Buried.
It’s giving “dad who won’t leave the party” energy and the crowd is over it.
Let’s Keep It A Buck
EVIL shows up for one night in NXT and instantly gets more heat than Spears has drawn in the last three years with The Culling.
Spears’ in-ring work? It’s… there. That’s the nicest way to put it.
The guy is a solid coach behind the scenes (props for that), but on TV? He’s developmental glue that won’t dry.
We’re watching WWE stack the women’s division with absolute smoke shows who can actually go (Giulia, Blake Monroe, Meghan Walker, etc.) and meanwhile the men’s side is still carrying this dude like it’s 2018.
Come on, Triple H. Clear the lane.
It’s Not Hate… It’s Just Facts
Sports entertainment moves fast. New guys like EVIL pop and the crowd eats it up. Spears has been “that guy” for years and the reaction is the same every single time: polite golf claps and “when is this over?”
The creepy chaperone angle has run its course harder than a bad indie match. Time to let the young guns eat and move Spears to the PC full-time where he actually helps people.
So yeah… is Shawn Spears EVER leaving developmental? Or are we stuck with Creepy Sean forever?
Drop your thoughts in the comments. Who else in NXT needs the “thank you for your service” send-off next? Or is Spears the undisputed king of developmental purgatory?
