Between streaming deals, international mega-shows, and corporate power structures, the ecosystem is a masterclass in institutional gridlock.
At the center of it all is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Armed with a seat on the TKO Board of Directors and an unmatched global footprint, he's uniquely positioned to try and steer the ship from the top down.
But trying to rewrite the creative universe while juggling an A-list Hollywood calendar has turned into a high-stakes game of corporate tug-of-war.

Of course, trying to alter a massive entertainment universe from the top down shouldn't surprise anyone who remembers his legendary run trying to "fix" DC.
Before he tried to rewrite WWE creative, he spent years warning everyone that "the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change"—only for Black Adam to bomb, the entire cinematic universe to get immediately torched by James Gunn, and The Rock to vanish into the ether.
The irony is thick. When a mega-star tries to execute a corporate power play, they run straight into the brick wall of bureaucracy—whether it's Warner Bros. spreadsheets or TKO boardrooms.
It’s not necessarily about anyone being "wrong," but rather the sheer, staggering absurdity of a multi-billion-dollar machine trying to move forward when every executive, board member, and power broker is pulling the steering wheel in a different direction.
The Bottom Line
What matters most is being entertained, and lately neither WWE nor DC has been doing a particularly good job of delivering that. So my vote goes to The Rock.
DC has gone through multiple creative regimes, and public consensus has largely slid from "nah" to "meh."
On the other side, we've had to sit through bloated, exhausting WWE event formats that feel like they are inching closer to a full-week commitment if someone doesn't pump the brakes on TKO.
Like a lot of fans, I’m growing tired of TKO’s corporate direction for WWE. And in the cinematic world, while Superman had its moments, Supergirl missed the mark, and James Gunn's broader roadmap isn't doing much to spark excitement.
So let’s give The Rock a real shot at full control of DC—or WWE—heck, why not both? Let him shake things up, bring his grand vision to the table, and see what kind of chaotic fireworks follow.
