TNA Drops Odd Final Resolution Card: Sup Wit Dat?
Welcome to the first and likely only edition of “Sup Wit Dat?”. It’s about the current state of TNA Wrestling, which his odd, and that’s being nice.
After a big Bound for Glory event, TNA took a month off. They aired BFG specials and an “Open Fight Night” but had no new storylines. The stories returned last Thursday, but the comeback was weak, with a Live IMPACT show the night before the “Turning Point” pay-per-view, leaving fans wanting more.
Both shows ended with WWE NXT wrestlers attacking, seemingly re-starting last year’s Invasion-style story. Robert Stone has formed a group mainly made up of NXT midcard wrestlers. I’m not being harsh—there’s some real talent in the group—but that’s just a fact.
I like Stax and respect his work, but the fact remains that he’s just a midcarder in NXT and really hasn’t done enough to earn a legitimate title shot. Yet somehow, he’s been granted a match against Steve Maclin for the International Championship. Why is this happening?
How did he get this chance before others who might deserve it more? The same goes for The Hardy’s defending against Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe, and others.
Who’s allowing NXT wrestlers these title matches? I know it’s part of the story, but as a long-time TNA fan, there’s a strong chance we will never find out. Remember JBL? Yea, me too.
TNA is in chaos as many contracts end this year. Key wrestlers like Joe Hendry and Jordynne Grace before him have left for WWE, and no big new stars are coming to help, at least as of yet.
So what exactly do they do? TNA made the decision to release the entire “Final Resolution” card all at once on Thursday. This event served as the follow-up show to “Turning Point,” so try to keep up—it can be quite confusing!
The card centers on NXT and then JDC's recent retirement. The System’s JDC has a World Title match, which is fine, even if it’s not the best or most fitting main event for a big year-end show.
TNA has Tessa Blanchard on their roster but has done very little with her this year. She’s not injured—that’s just a story—she’s been showing off her ridiculous skills in CMLL instead. When Tessa is more important than ever, TNA has kept her on the sidelines, even had her in Victoria Crawford’s corner.
She does have an upcoming tag team match scheduled with Crawford… on Xplosion?!
But hey, we got that TV deal coming imminently! As per like 50 days ago, which isn’t imminent? So…yea…there’s a new rumor about AMC, but I’ve seen 4 years worth of those, legit four years of TV rumors and no deals.
