Torture Porn…Stars & Money Matches: AEW Full Gear Roast

Last night was AEW Full Gear 2025, and to be honest, it might still be going on as I write this. I’m not entirely sure, nor do I really care at this point. Six hours or whatever it was of wrestling, was definitely more than enough for me, as well as for my friend R-Double, who happens to be the biggest AEW fan I know and tapped out before the main event even started.

Samoa Joe beat “Hangman” Adam Page to win the championship. This is disappointing because Page never became AEW’s top star and probably won’t after losing to a 46-year-old wrestler past his prime. It felt like a missed chance to make Page the main star and raises questions about AEW’s main event direction.

Ricochet becoming the first-ever AEW National Champion? That’s nasty, Trevor Mann, which is his real name makes gay porn? Yup, Trevor, the first ever AEW National Champion, is the former roommate of a registered sex offender, and they both make gay porn. Good job TK!

Tony Khan knows this well. Similar to WWE's nasty choice to give titles to someone like Chelsea “Groomer” Green, Trevor now holds a championship that he can proudly show his real boss/former roommate/RSO, who will share that photo with young fans!

Time to talk about FTR vs Brodido and you know what? It was a great match—good wrestling, strong story, and exciting competition that shows what AEW used to be all about.

Now Kyle Fletcher is very similar to “Hangman”, except a much better wrestler. This man should not be losing, any time soon, but of course he did to Mark Briscoe. Who I’m a big fan of, but he’s not in Fletcher’s league.

I’m skipping the preshow here but will say it had a money match. One of my biggest annoyances in wrestling – it feels so lazy. Why choose Omega and Jurassic Express, when they have real stories with The Young Bucks and Josh Alexander?

PAC beat Darby Allin in a good match, but I expected more, and I think the wrong person won. Darby is one of AEW’s main stars, which they don’t have many of. PAC is very talented but seems to appear and disappear often. Not sure if it’s because of him or Tony, but it’s frustrating either way.

Did I mention how much blood was spilled in these matches? Tony set up back-to-back no-rules fights with what I call "murder weapons." This time it was a fork—since a knife would be too obvious. The main event was also incredibly bloody.

Here’s my huge problem with this kind of brutality: once a “murder weapon” is used, you can’t just casually switch back to normal wrestling moves. It makes no sense!

Saying, “Oh, my fork is stuck in you, now let’s try a bodyslam,” is just ridiculous and kills the continuity of the match….and I’m not done…

Extras: Don Callis is an awful manager, why is he on commentary instead of helping his guys, makes no sense. Why were the two different preshows, one had matches, the other had goofballs talking about them? TF?!

Mercedes has 800 titles, but not the AEW Women’s? LMAO that’s so dumb, she should’ve handed those toys to Statlander after losing.

The biggest star in the company by far, Mox tapped out, again to Kyle O'Reilly?! Why? Why tapping out, twice like that? Is he leaving or something? Is it time for AE fans to hate him yet?

Similar to Jericho and Britt Baker, who truly carried the company on their backs during its peak and best moments, I’m honestly not quite sure what AEW represents anymore or where it’s headed.
