WWE Backlash 2026 Review & Results: Bron Breaks Seth, Sami and Jacob Go Full Heel

WWE Backlash 2026 opened extremely strong. Bron Breakker vs Seth Rollins was an absolute banger with great chemistry — highlighted by a Pedigree counter from Seth and Bron’s insane triple-rope spear. Easy 9/10.

Sami Zayn also went full unhinged heel, exactly as we predicted, with the kendo stick on Trick Williams (over AF with the crowd) and Helluva Kick on Lil Yachty.

The gingerbread saga finally pushed him over the edge even in defeat. Really strong start!

The rest of the show felt very SmackDown-ish — long, decent-to-good matches that dragged at times.

Danhausen’s mystery partner payoff was MidgetHausen (a bunch of minis after the cloning machine bit). It was chaotic and funny, DH is mega over, and they got the win… but it was a letdown for a lot of people expecting something bigger.

Too long for what it delivered.

Iyo Sky vs Asuka started slow but picked up nicely.

Asuka dominated early, Iyo took over late, won clean, and they embraced afterward. Crowd was hot for it by the end (big “We Want Kairi” chants too), but yeah — it felt long.

Still a solid match overall.

(Odd) Cena Announcement

Two-night TripleMania announced for Sept 11 & 13. Cena came out and revealed a brand new “John Cena Classic” tournament with a new title where fans vote on the champion (and losers can apparently still win it with enough fan support).

Well, that sounds like the opposite of pro wrestling….or something, and I hate it.

Main Event: Roman Reigns vs Jacob Fatu delivered.

It was hard-hitting, physical, and the split crowd made it feel big. Roman won (as expected), but Jacob attacked afterward, destroyed refs, and choked Roman out with Haku’s move post-match.

A bit long on the beatdown, but it effectively sets up their next chapter. #WhereDaUsosAt

Overall Grade: 7.8/10

A hot first hour and a strong main event carried the night. Some segments (especially the Danhausen stuff) ran overly long and felt more like TV than PPV, but the in-ring quality and key storyline moments made it a solidly enjoyable show.

Solid night of wrestling with clear forward momentum for Bron, Sami’s heel turn, and Jacob-Roman.
