WWE Main Event Is No Longer Pointless (And It’s Aimed Right at AEW)

If you’ve been skipping WWE Main Event for years, you aren't alone. For the longest time, it was just a throwaway recap show with low-tier matches taped before Raw and dumped on YouTube.

That completely changed this week.

Not only did WWE air actual Main Event highlights on Raw—canonizing the show and making it relevant to ongoing storylines like the Lyra Valkyria and Sol Ruca feud—but they also shifted its home to Rumble on Wednesday nights.

That Timing is No Accident.

Dropping Main Event on Wednesdays right alongside Evolve puts two separate WWE-adjacent shows directly in the same window as AEW Dynamite.

WWE is literally willing to split their own audience across multiple platforms on Wednesday nights just to crowd the field and squeeze AEW.

It's a ruthless, zero-fucks-given corporate play. But more importantly for viewers: Main Event is officially canon now, and you actually have to pay attention to it.
