American Gladiators on Prime Episode 2 Review

American Gladiators on Prime Episode 2 Review

WWE Superstar The Miz continues to shine as the charismatic host of the revived American Gladiators, backed by Rocsi Diaz and an enjoyably over-the-top Chris Rose. Episode 2 delivered high energy and some bold new events, though not all landed equally.

Collision (new event) had contestants crossing a narrow bridge while pushing a ball forward as Gladiators swung from above to knock them off. Sierra and Janelle both scored 8 points, while the men followed similar patterns.

The event felt overly difficult for the Gladiators due to height and timing issues — it may need tweaks or be dropped soon. Former wrestlers Jesse Godderz “Mr. Pecs” (Big Brother and TNA Wrestling alum) and (WWE’s) Rick Boogs appeared but had limited impact in that one.

The Ring (another new event) pitted two contestants against two Gladiators in a large ring, racing to the center.

It was chaotic and punishing — Evan managed to score 4 while Steffan ended up with 0. Kamille, the AEW star nicknamed “The Hurricane,” absolutely dominated a contest that felt almost like wrestling itself, so that tracks.

The classic Hang Tough event brought better balance and strategy. Sierra pulled ahead with 10 points, setting up a dramatic Eliminator!

The Travelator proved decisive once again: Evan edged out Steffan, while Janelle staged an impressive comeback with a gritty run to overcome Sierra’s lead.

Verdict

Despite a couple of clunky new events, the episode was consistently entertaining. The mix of nostalgia, athleticism, and big personalities makes this revival feel legitimate.

American Gladiators is back and absolutely worth watching — don’t miss it. Catch all of Season 1 now on Prime; the entire debut season has just been released and is ready to binge.
