Dixie Carter: The Funding That Saved TNA, The Oversights That Poisoned It
First off, there is no TNA without Dixie Carter. When Jeff Jarrett’s original HealthSouth backers imploded and pulled funding, the company was finished. Panda Energy stepped in, bought majority control, and Dixie became the president who kept the lights on for over a decade.
She wasn’t a wrestling insider. She was a businesswoman with family money who believed in the product and gave it a real shot at competing with WWE. That part deserves respect.
But respect doesn’t mean ignoring the rest.

The recent Dark Side of the Ring (Our Blacklist is Dark, they’re a fucking joke) episodes on Jeff Jarrett and TNA are classic DSotR: entertaining drama, selective as hell.
They dove into the power struggles, the Karen Angle/Jeff Jarrett relationship (Karen appeared on camera to reframe the affair timeline and blame Dixie for using it to push Jeff out), the Hogan/Bischoff era, and creative chaos. Fun TV.
What they barely touched—or completely skipped—were the darker, more damaging issues. Like trainer Chasyn Rance.
Rance, a registered sex offender with a conviction involving a minor, had connections to TNA’s training and Knockouts pipeline.
The number of talents (especially women) who came through environments linked to him is staggering. He didn’t vanish afterward either—he kept training at places like Team Vision Dojo for years. This wasn’t just a bad hire.
It was a failure of basic oversight under Dixie’s watch. Dixie’s biggest flaw was being too nice in a business full of sharks. She got worked, trusted the wrong people, and let personal relationships cloud business decisions.
That “good heart” Bischoff recently praised? It’s real—and it’s exactly why nice people get taken advantage of in this industry.
Jeff Jarrett was there the whole time too. Let’s not pretend he (or others in power) had zero clue about the problematic figures floating around. “I had no idea” doesn’t fly in such a small, gossipy world.
Dark Side of the Ring had a chance to show the real underbelly. Instead we got another negotiated highlight reel shaped by who would talk.
They covered the Karen/Jeff affair drama eagerly but went quiet on the predator/trainer issues that actually hurt people. That’s why the show is on my blacklist. It’s content, not courage.
Dixie wasn’t a cartoon villain. She kept a dying company alive when Jeff’s plan collapsed, built the Knockouts into something special, and took shots for being an outsider.
But her trusting nature enabled real problems that still echo. The full story isn’t just Monday Night Wars attempts and ego clashes. It’s also the parts they’re still too scared to put on TV.
