Last Night’s SmackDown Was One of the Most Boring in Recent Memory
Last night’s WWE SmackDown from Montreal (January 23, 2026) felt like a total slog. Three hours of mostly filler, predictable setups, and stuff that just didn’t hit.
As the go-home show for tonight’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, it should’ve amped me up—instead, it drained my interest.
Let me break down why it was so meh.
The tag team title change with Solo Sikoa’s MFT crew beating the Wyatt Sicks? Cool on paper, but we all know these swaps flip back quick. The feud’s stale, and it didn’t land with any real excitement.
AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vibes were floating around, but nothing materialized. The card felt set in stone ages ago, then they slap in a last-minute match yesterday? Lazy vibes all around.
Women’s Division Woes
Jordynne Grace looks different every goddamn week, hair, gear, whatever. But she gets no reaction, and why should she? Called up cold as hell from TNA, no NXT titles, kept losing feuds there, and now we’re supposed to take her seriously against Jade Cargill?
Jade squashed Chelsea Green (as expected), then stared down Grace after her win over Alba Fyre. Big mismatch when Grace hasn’t built any main-roster cred yet.
The women’s tag #1 contender triple threat was a mess—Giulia & Kiana James won over Charlotte/Alexa and Nia Jax & Lash Legend. Nia and Lash (still blanking on her name half the time, which says it all) suck at wrestling; another cold NXT call-up who hasn’t clicked.
The division’s stacked, but these segments feel sloppy.
Three-hour SmackDowns are exhausting, period.
The main event—Damian Priest vs. Trick Williams—ended in a no-contest brawl with Sami Zayn, then Randy Orton hits RKOs on Sami and Trick post-chaos. Big pop for The Viper, but the “match” was nothingburger setup.
Overall, holding-pattern episode: quick tag swap, Jade dominating, Bloodline teases with Cody and Jacob Fatu, Orton popping in. No surprises, no fire—it killed my SNME hype. With Royal Rumble next week, WWE better deliver shocks tonight to redeem this.
