New WWE Men's Speed Champion: Lexis King Claims the Crown in High-Octane NXT Showdown
I’ll admit it—I used to clown on the whole WWE Speed concept. Three-minute matches? Who’s tuning in for that sprint-fest when we’ve got 20+ minute epics on the main roster?
But man, I’ve done a complete 180. These lightning-fast bouts are a breath of fresh air: different, chaotic, and genuinely fun. They force everyone to go full throttle from the bell, and I’ve found myself looking forward to them every week.
Tonight on NXT: Revenge – Week 2 (April 21, 2026), we finally got a new champion after Elio LeFleur had to vacate the title due to injury.
In the tournament final, it was Lexis King taking on the high-flying EK Prosper for the vacant WWE Men’s Speed Championship in a 5-minute time-limit match.
Prosper brought the fireworks—flipping, soaring, and hitting some insane aerial offense that had the crowd popping. The guy’s got serious talent and charisma in the ring.
(Side note: I’m a fan of what he does between the ropes, even if “EK Prosper” sounds like a rejected energy drink flavor)
The numbers game proved too much in the end, allowing King to put it away and become the new WWE Men’s Speed Champion.
Here’s a wild (or kinda sad?) fact: these official 5-minute Speed title matches are actually just two shorter than some of the WrestleMania 42 matches!
Let that sink in.
Congrats to Lexis King and BirthRight on the gold! The Speed division keeps delivering in its own unique way. Who’s next for the new champ?
