NXT Has a New Force of Nature, But Can Someone Check on Tatum Paxley?
NXT’s women’s division just got a serious injection of powerhouse athleticism, but it came at a familiar expense.
Tonight’s episode marked the highly anticipated debut of Nikki Martinez (fka indie standout Nikki Blackheart). Trained by Gangrel and coming off a dominant run on the independent scene, Martinez arrived with an immediate presence.
Visually, she looks like an absolute star—carrying a powerhouse build and an intensity that instantly cuts through the screen. If you were looking for a fresh, explosive addition to the roster, she absolutely fits the bill.
But we have to talk about the target of her first statement.
After her match tonight, a completely blindsided Tatum Paxley became the launching pad for Martinez's arrival. While Vic Joseph and Booker T went wild on commentary putting over the "force of nature," poor Tatum was left clearing the wreckage once again.
Seriously, what did Tatum do to offend the wrestling gods? At this point, she is turning into NXT’s definitive structural testing device. Need to debut a terrifying new powerhouse?
Lay out Tatum. Need a post-match beatdown to establish a monster heel? Call Tatum. She sells her absolute heart out, but someone get this woman some backup.
Martinez is going to be a fascinating player to watch as this "Summer Reshuffle" takes shape, but let's hope Paxley gets a chance to punch back sooner rather than later.
