Robert Stone's "Interim" NXT GM Gig: Until Further Notice... Or Maybe Forever?

Another new edition of WWE NXT ended a few hours ago and Robert Stone is still the interim GM. Quick rewind: Back on February 3, Shawn Michaels pulled the classic "you're interim GM now" move on Robert Stone right after Ava bounced (contract up).

Stone stepped up, promised not to let HBK down, and just like that, he's been running the show—booking matches, dropping decisions on title drama (that Vengeance Day women's title call was solid), breaking up parking lot brawls, the whole authority bit.

Here's the funny part: It's been over a month now (as of March 11), and nobody on TV has even whispered "we're still looking for a permanent GM" or floated any names. No teases, no backstage vignettes about candidates, nada.

Stone's just... doing the job. Quietly, no-nonsense, low-drama. He's even said in interviews he feels like he's "killing it" because he basically apprenticed under Ava for two years without the spotlight.

As a guy who's watched enough wrestling to know "interim" can mean anything from "three weeks" to "until the next regime change," this feels like one of those stretches where the placeholder becomes the guy.

Remember how some interim GMs in the past just stuck around because it worked?

Stone's got that vibe—reliable, experienced (seven years in NXT, former manager, good on the mic), and fans aren't complaining. It's a nice change from more over-the-top authority figures.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not campaigning for or against it. Wrestling thrives on change and surprises, so maybe HBK drops a bomb soon and brings in someone fresh (Shayna Baszler? Someone from the main roster?).

Or maybe Stone just keeps the seat warm indefinitely because why fix what ain't broke?Either way, it's entertaining watching him navigate the chaos without making it all about himself.

Props to the dude for turning "interim" into "until further notice... and we're good with that."
