Roman Reigns Was Right: Conrad Thompson Is Projecting

Graphic article headline reading "Roman Reigns Was Right: Conrad Thompson Is Projecting.

When Roman Reigns addresses the noise, he rarely wastes words. Appearing on Club Shay Shay, Shannon Sharpe brought up recent comments from podcaster Conrad Thompson, who flat-out called The Original Tribal Chief "overrated” and “industry plant”.

Reigns didn't bite on the bait, offering a sharp, dismissive assessment of modern wrestling media and the people who rely on his name for engagement:

"No, because the truth is, like, are there a lot of people watching that guy's show? So, you're going to say stuff. You already know I'm a metric mover. They know I give views and all that stuff, so it's fine. I mean, it is what it is.

And if you look at the guy's background, you already know where his support system is... All you got to do is scroll a little bit, and you see who he's a fan of and stuff like that and who he's connected to.

But no, if they want to use my name to get views, that's the industry right now."

Conrad’s Boots Have Roots

Roman hit the absolute bullseye. But let's take it a step further, because calling Roman Reigns an "industry plant" or "overrated" coming from Conrad Thompson is the ultimate exercise in professional wrestling projection.

To borrow from Eminem’s famous 8 Mile lunch truck battle: Conrad has been around the industry so long, he’s turned into a plant himself—look at his boots, they’re starting to grow roots.

Now let’s break down his actual resume. He removed the part where he beat his ex-wife, it’s called scrubbing information, and it cost a lot of money.

Conrad didn’t build a multi-show podcast empire because he’s a generational talker, a brilliant mind for wrestling psychology, or a captivating broadcast host.

He did it through proximity, marriage, corporate networking and scrubbing the time he BEAT HIS WIFE

Conrad is married into the Flair family. He hitched his wagon to Eric Bischoff, Bruce Prichard, Kurt Angle, and Tony Schiavone.

He didn't carve out a legacy by being elite at his craft; he wedged himself directly into the audio feed of wrestling fans everywhere.

Thompson is the ultimate industry podcaster—the guy you are forced to sit through, listening to endless, monotonous ad reads and forced commentary, just so you can finally hear the actual legends and historical figures talk.

He’s a carny operator playing the dirt sheet algorithms, tossing out hot takes on the biggest star of this era because he knows mentioning Roman's name is the only way to squeeze a few extra clicks out of an otherwise stagnant news cycle.

Roman Reigns moves metrics because he delivered the defining, highest-grossing storyline of modern professional wrestling history, drawing historic gates and mainstream attention.

Thompson moves metrics by reading life insurance commercials and riding the coattails of men who actually made history.

If you're looking for an overrated entity in the wrestling space, maybe start with the guy whose entire career depends on holding the microphone for someone else's memories.
