Scorpio Sky: A Talent Wasted, Ready for a New Chapter

Former two-time AEW TNT Champion Scorpio Sky celebrating a title victory in the wrestling ring

It’s no secret that AEW boasts a staggering roster, but sometimes, even the most gifted performers get lost in the shuffle. One prime example is Scorpio Sky.

Since day one, "The Face of TNT" has been a foundational piece of the company, yet his trajectory over the last couple of years has felt like a massive missed opportunity.

Many fans—myself included—have speculated that the momentum stalled significantly following the dissolution of SCU and Frankie Kazarian’s departure.

Regardless of the "why," the result has been frustrating for those of us who know exactly what Sky is capable of in the ring.

Looking Ahead: What's Next?

In a recent appearance on Tagging In with Chris Harris, Sky addressed the reports that his current AEW contract is set to expire in just a few months. W

hile he remained characteristically professional, focusing on "finishing this chapter the right way," the writing on the wall seems clear: a change of scenery is on the horizon.

When asked about his future, Sky noted:

"I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you that I thought about what I’m going to do... I have a lot of stories and matches and moments left to be part of."

Where Does He Land?

The landscape for a veteran like Scorpio Sky is fascinating:

  • The TNA Homecoming: Personally, I’d love to see him land in TNA. Given his history and the brand's current direction, he could easily step in as a top-tier main eventer and breathe new life into the division. He’s exactly the kind of seasoned veteran that elevates everyone around him.

  • The WWE Wildcard: A jump to WWE is always a tempting thought, though at 43, one has to wonder if their current youth-focused strategy aligns with his timeline. That said, talent is talent, and Sky’s resume—including his run as the inaugural AEW World Tag Team Champion and a two-time TNT Champion—speaks for itself.

Whatever he chooses, it’s refreshing to see someone so motivated to prove their worth. AEW’s loss will undoubtedly be someone else's gain.

Sky has "moments left to be part of," and for his sake, I hope he finds a place where he can actually make them happen.
