Top 5 WWE Superstars to Take Over John Cena’s Role

Top 5 WWE Superstars to Take Over John Cena’s Role

Tomorrow night is the final match in the storied career of John Cena. He’ll face Gunther at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, and that’ll be the end of one of the greatest of all time.

So I’m already thinking about who could fill his enormous shoes, but not fully, that’d be ridiculous. This is simply about who might step into his unique role of visible leadership, and locker-room presence.

You can find all of my Top 5 lists linked.

Top 5 WWE Superstars to Take Over John Cena’s Role

  • AJ Styles is my top pick, he was the face that runs the place. He could be again, as long he forgets about that silly retirement idea.

  • Randy Orton is the obvious choice, and he recently proved his leadership skills.

  • Kofi Kingston simply needs to tap back into that unmistakable KofiMania energy.

  • Johnny Gargano already has all the tools at his disposal; he just needs a strong push to truly shine.

  • Carmelo Hayes is the opposite of Orton — not an obvious pick. Like Gargano, he has the skills and, after just five years in WWE, just needs a bigger push.
